Ending August On a Literary High

my vegan + gf strawberry lemon cake

I've been reading some great books lately.

I think this is because I DNF anything that doesn't feel like it will be a 5 star read or 5 star reading experience.

I am still trying to figure out a way to wrap up Lolita. A top read of the year for certain. I DNFed it 3 times before finishing it this time. Powerfully biting and extremely uncomfortable.

I have some Fall reading plans that make me so excited. I have a heavy set of circumstances right at my front door, and anxiety has had me reaching for the remote control rather than my kindle.

That will change as September rolls in.

I finished the month reading Lolita + Mistress and Maid. They are both very very deeply moving books for varied reasons.

As I walk into the end of this year, it's a great time to remember that it is important for me:

  1. Reading is a deep wellness practice
  2. Participate as much or as little in readathons as allows me to stay true to my reading taste
  3. Community is always great when it comes to reading
Off to design my September TBR :)

Classics, Translated, Epic Poem + My First Murakami: Currently Reading

I am working on deep reading and am having a great time with these reads. I am going to add a cozy mystery and/or thriller, and I am cycling through so many books these days and I love that feeling.

I think I am going to go back to keeping a physical book journal as well. I miss that tactile process.

My life is very stressful and I need reading and comforting reads to engage me. Literature is saving me these days.

Grateful for Digital Reading

early morning light roast

It's no surprise if you see the new name of this blog that I love my kindle. I love the ability to digitally read on e-ink. I read A LOT on the computer for medical information and I rely on my kindles to be with me and help me through waiting room times, late night sleepless sessions, etc.

I love my signature edition and wireless charging. When I see it approaching the 50% mark, I just sit on there for an hour or so and like magic it's good to go.

As my reading has slowed (even more) and my focus has been just feeling good when I'm reading, I have kept my gym kindle in my gym bag, my travel kindle in my purchase and my SE with me in the house all day. It's completely accurate to the sticker, "My Emotional Support Kindle".

Everyone is hauling and photographing hundreds of physical books, but I am so content to have a kindle loaded with great reads. I enjoy watching those great stacks of books, but I will always love the ability to enlarge the font, turn on warm lighting, and read in the dark :)

2024 Reading Intentions

I love a good goal. :) However, setting intentions is so much better. It's an energetic exchange. A crafting of a lifestyle... As a qui...
